So I've been commuting to work by bike for six weeks now, only missing one day due to having to carry my kayak...
One day last week I had to carry a Yakima rack (with 66" bars) home - here are a couple of pictures:
When I got home I weighed the rig - 55 pounds! No wonder those hills felt harder... Note the deft use of duct tape to support the rails!

Stupid pass by SUV driver
This is a pass I captured on a ride yesterday:
This woman, not knowing that braking IS allowed, passed between us and the cyclist on the other side of the road with her mouth wide open! We think she was thinking something like: "Oh my God! I'm going to kill someone!!" Hmmmmm....

On the ride today...
..I learned about the Tabata Protocol. This is essentially a very short exercise protocol where you go at 100% for twenty seconds, then rest (no pedalling) for ten seconds, and repeat as many times as you can... Sounds like I might need a bucket next to the trainer for this when I try it!!

On the ride today...
..I was coming to a stop, and hadn't yet decided whether to:
a) trackstand
b) put left foot down
c) put right foot down
And somewhere in between, I unclipped my left foot, put it back - then unclipped my right foot (listen for the clicks..) but oh dear, where is my center of gravity now... Aaaaaargh!
DOH! At least my left elbow took the brunt, and not my bike!
Here's one on caution needed while crossing a bridge:
Here is what I'm taking for pain:
